🧶 Have you ever noticed the beauty in the imperfections of handmade objects? There's a certain charm to them that just can't be replicated by something mass-produced. We sell genuine Moroccan rugs entirely handmade from natural materials in Morocco. No machines are used throughout the process, just hands, ancestral know-how, and an incredible passion for rugs.

💭 What Are Beni Mguild Rugs?

The first thing to notice about the beautiful vintage Beni Mguild rugs is the layering of colors: a palette of subdued hues that have faded over time. The Beni is full of unusual woven shapes and symbolism. Each of these rugs tells a different story. All those interesting details make it a unique find. Beni Mguild carpets are hand-knotted with wool by Berber women from the Ait M’Guild tribe, in the heart of the middle part of the Atlas Mountains. This place, also known as Ait Ouhammou, runs from the high Moulouya valley to the south of Meknes. The carpets are thus named after the tribe.

Dimensions; 250 x 153 cm

💭 What Are Boujad Rugs? Boujad rugs are made by Berber tribes but they are named after the town of Boujad. The surrounding region of this town lies in the western foothills of the Middle Atlas adjoining the Zaer tribal territory in the extreme western corner, and the town Beni Mellal at the northernmost edge of Western High Atlas. The knotted rugs have typically a low pile and are often made with mixed materials such as wool, cotton, textile scraps and industrial yarns. Their designs are often highly individual containing Berber motifs, motifs found in Rabat rugs, distorted checkerboard fields and gestural abstract patterns- all in lively colors.

🚩 Every rug has been cleaned before being shipped. 100% vintage rugs, after use. please take care to gently clean the rug. Please follow these simple guidelines for taking care of your rug.

🧼 Care and Cleaning; For regular care: You can vacuum your rug. To eliminate odours and humidity; let it dry in the sun for a day. Make sure it does not stay wet or damp. If you store it, we do NOT recommend storing it in a bag. Cleaning your rug: You can wash it by hand with laundry soap and rinse it with your garden hose. Then let it fully dry in the sun. 1. Vacuum Technique Don't be afraid to vacuum fairly regularly. Just make sure you have the setting down to its lowest, as this will prevent any extra fibres being pulled out and instead just remove the excess. Also be sure to avoid brush settings.  2. Underlay Use an underlay! This will stop any extra movement which will, in turn, reduce the amount of shedding. Do be careful which underlay you use, if they are too sticky they may damage your floor & the rug. We can recommend some if you like. 3. Soft Brush Rake Try a soft brush broom/ rake - it'll gently get rid of excess fibres without pulling further from the foundation.

✏️ Our vintage pieces have storey, which is why we love them but it means they are not 'perfect' something that attests to their authentic character. Please look carefully at the pictures and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
