🧶 Have you ever noticed the beauty in the imperfections of handmade objects? There's a certain charm to them that just can't be replicated by something mass-produced. We sell genuine Moroccan rugs entirely handmade from natural materials in Morocco. No machines are used throughout the process, just hands, ancestral know-how, and an incredible passion for rugs.

What is a Kilim Rug? Moroccan kilims are highly durable, flat woven rugs, typically made from cotton or wool. Kilim rugs are used by the Berbers for a variety of purposes; as decorative floor or wall coverings in domestic homes or Bedouin tents and even as blankets. Flat weave kilims are referred to locally as “hanbel”. Unlike other types of hand knotted, thick pile Moroccan rugs, kilims are pileless so they are relatively flat and thin. Don’t be deceived by this as Moroccan kilims are incredibly durable and resilient – even for modern day use. Each one is woven by hand on a loom, a lengthy process, which results in an excellent and dense quality rug made to endure everyday life and last for many decades.

 Dimensions: 244 x 155 cm

The rugs from the Taznakht area are precious treasures made of Siroua sheep wool, usually flat woven without pile (like hanbel or kilim) or with very short pile, often colored with natural dyes. Soft and resistant, they are all handmade by local artisans and cooperatives. In our collection you will find a selection of Zanafi, Akhnif, Glaoui and Kharita rugs, each with its own particularities.

The decorative motifs are geometric and organized according to an irregular but distinguishable symmetry. We can find, even mixed together, lines, squares and checkerboards, rhombuses, triangles, crosses, together with figures of natural inspiration. The mix of symbols and colors makes them sometimes similar to large patchworks or creative mosaics. The dimensions vary from small "prayer" to large formats and runners.

🚩 Every rug has been cleaned before being shipped. 100% vintage rugs, after use. please take care to gently clean the rug. Please follow these simple guidelines for taking care of your rug.

🧼 Care and Cleaning; For regular care: You can vacuum your rug. To eliminate odours and humidity; let it dry in the sun for a day. Make sure it does not stay wet or damp. If you store it, we do NOT recommend storing it in a bag. Cleaning your rug: You can wash it by hand with laundry soap and rinse it with your garden hose. Then let it fully dry in the sun.

1. Vacuum Technique Don't be afraid to vacuum fairly regularly. Just make sure you have the setting down to its lowest, as this will prevent any extra fibres being pulled out and instead just remove the excess. Also be sure to avoid brush settings.

2. Underlay Use an underlay! This will stop any extra movement which will, in turn, reduce the amount of shedding. Do be careful which underlay you use, if they are too sticky they may damage your floor & the rug. We can recommend some if you like.

✏️ Our vintage pieces have storey, which is why we love them but it means they are not 'perfect' something that attests to their authentic character. Please look carefully at the pictures and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. We will go back to all messages within 24 hours
